Daily Words of the Buddha

Pariyatti means . . .

In Pāli, the language of ancient Northern India, pariyatti refers to study of the theoretical aspects of the Dhamma. Pariyatti, Paṭipatti (practice) and Paṭivedha (direct realization) comprise the essence of the Buddha's teaching.

Thanks for your support!

Generous supporters pledged $38,675 to help us continue our mission and have inspired others to contribute an additional $38,675.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed! We are gratified by the heartfelt expressions of good will and appreciation that accompanied many of the donations. By November 30, 260 donors had stepped up to the challenge to help sustain Pariyatti through its immediate financial crisis.

Meeting the challenge to raise $77,350 ensures that Pariyatti will be able to:

  • keep Dhamma books available,
  • repay a short-term loan,
  • avoid reducing services.

If you would like to become a supporter, you can learn more about the benefits of an annual donation.

Pariyatti is a nonprofit service organization that, with donations and underwriting support, seeks out, publishes and makes available materials to inspire, educate and illuminate the seeker's path. A comprehensive resource for the teachings of the Buddha as preserved in the Theravada tradition, Pariyatti is also a primary source for print and digital information about Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka, in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. We're more than a bookstore, however. Check out Resources & Projects, or click on an icon to learn more.
